Canon Robert Kereopa (left) and his wife Rachel visited us recently at the invitation of the Mission Action Team. About 20 people from the Whangarei area attended and, after Pat Adams had welcomed Robert and Rachel, listened to Robert speak about the AMB and its work. He spoke about the AMB's Past Legacy, its Present Growth and its Future Vision. He was very clear that mission was the work of the whole church and that the AMB was only the vehicle by which mission is carried out. He told us that the Missions Board is in good heart, well supported and that funding is growing and that they are enjoying unexpected surpluses.
Rachel spoke about some of the short term missions abroad with teams composed of youth in their late teens to early twenties. She told us how, often, the youth got more out of the mission than those to whom they went. One group in Tanzania was surprised to have 5,000 people turn out to welcome them! As one elder said, "You have left your home and crossed oceans to be with us. We are honoured to have you with us and are grateful that we have not been forgotten."
Rachels stories of the miracles of God's provision in direct answer to prayer were of great encouragement to us all. We will not soon forget this wonderful visit.
PENTECOST SUNDAY
Pentecost, the birthday of the Church, was celebrated at Christ Church with coloured flags and streamers, joyful singing and, since the vicar was away in Australia, an inspired departure from the

normal liturgy! The children took an active part and excelled themselves with a cafe style high tea after the service with delicious cake and savouries and proper coffee from a proper cup-a-coffee pot. Emma, newly appointed to the role of Children's Ministry Co-ordinator (or some such fancy title) is to be congratulated for her energy and infectious joy - making this Pentecost into a truly special occasion.
