Anglican Parish of Whangarei
Whether you have stumbled across our website by accident or are here by design, a warm welcome to Christ Church and the Southern Rural Districts, Whangarei; or, at least, to our electronic outstretched hand.
We could be described as 'broad church' enjoying a simple, but never simplistic gospel whilst striving to retain a richness of expression. We are as likely to be found teaching our growing band of littlies in a Montessori style 'Godly Play' session as in a Tuesday night group wrestling with thorny theological thoughts.
One thing is for certain; not every theological 'i' is dotted nor doctrinal 't' crossed. We are on a journey of discovery and there is time and opportunity yet open to us for wonder, awe and lashings of mystery.
Much to the congregation's delight we are developing an eclectic musical experience at Christ Church, which includes exceptional organ, piano and guitar playing and a newly formed group, albeit small, of experienced singers. Thus our music travels easily from Handel to Kendrick by way of a setting of the "Our Father," co-written by our resident guitarist.
We are firmly based in the scriptures and our services are centred on Christ; from His miracle birth through to His triumphant resurrection and beyond.
A series of very fine morning teas continue to be served after both of the Christ Church Sunday morning Eucharists, encouraging folks to linger a little, chat and make new friendships. These are times of love and laughter, forging new links and strengthening the community of faith we are heaven-bent on forming.

Easter Season:

Wishing you all a blessed Eastertide.
May the truth too deep for thought touch your hearts this Easter.
